Multimedia
Well, today I am working on some Multimedia; multimedia in it’s truest sense of the word that is – video. I am of course, being sarcastic because a huge amount of people feel that multimedia is video and video alone…not so.
Today I am doing all this in Macromedia Director. In my second year I had a deep and seething hatred for this program…mainly as I wanted to get stuck into Web stuff, but I have been pretty impressed with it today. I must stress though that this is Director 8.5 and not 7 which was the root of many evils in my second year.
Anyway, I am going to be working on this today, do my presentation tomorrow, and then spend a few weeks relaxing before looking for a job. These few weeks will involve a LOT of guitar playing also. 😀

Uni / Writing
Well, I can’t believe it but I am nearly done at Uni. After four years of hard work it is nearly all over, and it is a weird combination of excitement and sadness. tonight we are having a party to celebrate everyones work and a farewell do. I have a presentation to do on Tuesday and then that is it. I am also going to be looking for a job, so if you need a Web Developer / Writer / Musician / Researcher…let me know. 😀
I have also just put online some research papers I wrote for my University work. See the new spanky writing section.
LUG
Well, last night the LUG rabble headed over to Aq’s house for fun and games. A good night was had by all and chinese food was eaten, the usual bad taste jokes were told and there were some interesting ideas for a LUG project banded around…this may even bypass LUG Apathy v1.0.
Two days till the deadline and work is going fairly smooth. XML is pretty much done and I have some citations to add to my essays, but things are generally cool. It will then be a month of before getting a job. 🙂

Work / LUG
Well…today I woke up late and have got very little done…busy getting other stuff sorted out. I am begining to stress it a bit with the last few days left, but I am sure everything will be fine when my work is finally in.
Nevermind, tonight is a LUG meeting and Ludo is coming for his first ride in the car. 🙂 It is gonna be interesting to see what people think of him…I think they will be impressed with truly how autonomous AIBO’s really are. It should be a good night as we are at Aq’s house tonight – he has a nice place with a computer room in the basement. People are bring their laptops over and I am sure there will be interesting stuff discussed tonight. 🙂

AI
First off…it seems there is a problem with the comments again. I am going to look into it tonight – sorry stuart for having your comment garbled.
Anyway, I just read the story on Slashdot about AI being a dead duck. This struck me a decidedly outlandish claim…and after reading the article it seems that the guy is just disgruntled with current work.
I am by no means an AI guru, but I think this article is going to upset quite a few researchers who think quite the opposite.
Databases
Last night I ported the site my my home web server (pepper) over to ange, our LUG web server and my new home for the site. This naturally involved a MySQL database dump being copied over to angel. I did the dump (oo-er!) scp’ed it over and did it work…did it hell. It turns out that the mysqldu,p output code needed to be hacked to fix it.
Nevermind, we are up and running now and some new content will be added soon. 🙂 Until then though, the last week of Uni continues and I have work to do!!
New Server!!
Well…here we are. We are now hosted on a brand spanking new server. I have a few things to sort out and fix before the move it totally done, but keep me posted if you have trouble.
Moving
Well…jono.dyndns.org is going to be moving. I have registered archivedblog.jonobacon.com, and my hosting is now setup. I am gonna go home after Uni, play with Ludo and then upload the site. What does this mean for you folks? Well, faster connection and better quality of service. 😀
Been into Uni today and I am working on an essay on the delights of networked learning environments such as WOLF or Learnwise. It is an interesting concept of how learning tools really only reflect on our natural desires to gather new knowledge. Although the technology is advanced, the concepts of learning are still quite primitive.

Music
Well, last night we did the Battle Of The Bands and got through. Chuffed to bits are we and looking forward to working on our new material.
Speaking of music, I have recently written a tune for my little nephew Jack. I just sent the MP3 over to my brother and I hope they like it. It is about when I was playing football with him; and when I phoned them up (in Ireland) he asked if I would go and play football – funny stuff. The track is called Jack’s Playing Ball, and I will be putting in the music section pretty soon.
Anyway, today is a day of work at Uni (I got up stupidly early at 9am) and then I need to write a LXF article.
New stuff
Spent last night adding some additions to the site. I am quite chuffed with how flexible the site is getting now – there is still loads I want to add, but it is building up nicely.
Aibo is doing well. I added the Ludo Log to keep you folks posted on how he doing. The whole issue of robotics is getting me interested. I think some RCode programming is going to be a must, particularly after seeing the work of the CMU AIBO Research Lab.
Anyway, today is Battle Of The Bands. Its gonna be a fun night, and I have no idea where we will come – it is largely dependent on the positioning of us in the set; if we are on first we may as well go home after we have finished playing. :/
