Free software and headbanging
Tonight we did a gig at the Giffard Arms in Wolverhampton, and it was a pretty good night. We had a great time and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. 🙂
Tonight I have been working on the new free software in education guide. The idea is that the guide will be developed using the forum to harvest ideas and sections/fixes to be added. If you would like to get involved, go to the forum and join in with the thread.

Back from LUG
Just got back from our LUG meet. Good fun and we finished at about 1am. New guy popped down, and we managed to perk the interest of one of the waiters to replace an NT4 machine. He seemed interested and Aq palmed off the RedHat box he got from the expo.
Gig tomorrow, and I can’t wait. I am itching to gig and it should be fun. Right, need to do some stuff and then get some kip.

Random chickens
Well, we went to Bedford yesterday to deliver a tumble dryer that we flogged on ebay. While there we stopped in on family, and I was presented with a fantastic signed picture of Robocop by Peter Weller. There was a sci-fi fair on in Milton Keynes a few weeks back and I most most disappointed that he did’nt seem to be there when we went, so I was chuffed to bits when they went back and got him to sign something for me. Yes, I know it is sad, but I love robocop, and it is damn cool. It says “Jono. Peter Weller. Robo”. Chuffed am I.
Well, we have a gig tomorrow night, and we have just booked another gig in Northampton with Detrimentum and Ritual Of Hate. I need to arrange a few things and then I will add it to the Seraphidian site.
Today I have some work to do for Linux Format before the fortnightly LUG fest over at the standard. 🙂

Bish bash
Today I have hacked on my work management system and tonight I got it finished. I stuck in some up and coming freelance projects, and I am pretty happy with it. It is a simple concept, but effective. 🙂
Well, it looks like my latest ramble has made it onto Linuxtoday . You know, I like Linux Today because they post submissions. There is no major overt censorship going on, and it is good to see that my rambles make the grade and don’t hit the submission dustbin.
It is good to see that the UKLinux.net chaps (fine upstanding citizens who sort out people for the various expos) have put some pics from the Linux Expo in London. Check them out here, and there is one picture of our beer swilling.
As I hack
Today has been fun. I got up and was presented with a fine cooked breakfast by Sooz, and I lazed around until 4pm with her. At 4pm I set off for our band practice and we rehearsed all of our material and a few different sets. Things are sounding really cool at the moment. 🙂
Tonight we went to see Motorhead at the Civic. I was a Motorhead virgin, and was most impressed with Lemmy, Phil and Micky at producing an all mighty noise that was incredible. Great gig, and my ears were battered with the sheer volume of it. Yes, believe the hype, Motorhead really do play that loud.
Got in and Sooz was asleep. On friday I started coding a work management system for myself, and tonight I worked on it a little more. I am now knackered and must close my eyes and visit the land of nod. Night.
Back from the Linux expo
Well, I have returned from the Linux Expo in London. We (Aq, James, Lee, Dan and I) went down checked out what was going on down there. It was an interesting show and it was good to meet up some people again. People we ended up seeing included the legendary filth master Trigger from ITS Linux, Paul and Nick from Linux Format, John Southern from Linux Magazine, Maggie and crew from Linux User, Dave Pashley, Jonathan Riddell, Chris Howells, the crazy guys from Dyne:bolic, the Debian crew, Dasher guys, CDr, AFFS and many more. It was a fun show.
One of th highlights of the show was the so called Great Linux Debate. This included Nick from Linux Format, IBM, HP, SuSE, RedHat, Sun and believe it or not a guy from Microsoft. The Microsoft dude got a bit of a bashing as expected, but it was an interesting discussion filled with the expected amount dose of corporate nonsense.
All in all much fun was had and much free beer was drunk after the first day. It was great to a lively .org village and credit goes to the mighty Brian Teeman from UKLinux. He is the brains behind the outfit and a generous guys who deserves a lot of credit.
I am now sat at home and we have some buddies come over tonight. I have a few things to sort out and then I am going to get on with sorting out tonight with Sooz.
Off to the Expo
Right folks, I will be away for a couple of days on Wednesday and Thursday at the Linux Expo in London. Much mooching, drinking, eating and getting ripped off by London prices is planned.
Thanks go out to Aq for pointing out a few things with the RSS feeds. They will be fixed when I get back, and fingers crossed I can work on Tobe some more. This week has seen a stack of new work come in, so it is just a case of planning it all. 🙂
Right, if you are at the Expo, come over and say hi and I will see you ‘orrible lot when I get back. 🙂

RSS fun and games
Well, I have finally got round to adding an RSS feed to the site. Now the bacon blog and rambles can be shared to all and sundry. This log entry in fact should (if all goes well) be the first to update the RSS feed. I will be putting some instructions on how to use the RSS feed on the site soon, but for now check out this page.

Standing on my head
Before I begin, I have no idea why I just typed that in as the topic for this entry. I suspect I am slowly going mad and will start eating my arm soon. Nevermind.
Well, today I had a band practice. We chugged hard and have new stuff in the works also. Watched the Derren Brown russian roulette thing on TV and the rest of the magic related fun. I don’t know what to think about the show. I suspect the whole thing was a sham, but derren brown is pretty good. Some may not know this, but I got quite into magic for a while. Not any longer as I was crap.
Right, its late and I have an article to finish and some bugs to fix. I might write a ramble tonight also. Its been a while.
