Ashley Highfield Reviews Ubuntu

by | Fri 20 Jun 2008

*The original meeting with Ashley, back in February*

As some of you will remember, a while back I went to London to see Ashley Highfield, the Director Of Future Media and Technology to [talk to him about Ubuntu](https://archivedblog.jonobacon.com/?p=1135). It was a successful and productive meeting, and Ashley was interested in Ubuntu and Open Source.

Well, today Ashley has written up a blog entry [reporting his experience using Ubuntu](https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2008/06/linux_ubuntu_blog.html). I think it is a broadly positive review, and at the end of the blog entry he says “*Critically though, I think the BBC can, and should, do more to support the Free and Open Source community, and I hope this has at least shown my commitment to listen and learn!*”. Good man.

I threw this into Digg so lets get this on the front page of the Linux/UNIX section – [GO AND DIGG IT!](https://digg.com/linux_unix/Ashley_Highfield_BBC_executive_Reviews_Ubuntu)

Ubuntu Governance Reboot: Five Proposals

Ubuntu Governance Reboot: Five Proposals

Sorry, this is *long*, but hang in there. A little while back I wrote [a blog post](https://archivedblog.jonobacon.com/2014/11/14/ubuntu-governance-reboot/) that seemed to inspire some people and ruffle the feathers of some others. It was designed as a...

Ubuntu Governance: Reboot?

Ubuntu Governance: Reboot?

For many years Ubuntu has had a comprehensive governance structure. At the top of the tree are the Community Council (community policy) and the Technical Board (technical policy). Below those boards are sub-councils such as the IRC, Forum, and LoCo councils, and...
